In a bid to boost Investments and Economic Development, Meru County Investment and Development Corporation, in collaboration with Capital Markets Authority and the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce, Meru Chapter (KNCCI), held several workshops aimed at inspiring cooperative SACCOs, Boda-boda groups, the business community and professional institutions to embrace entrepreneurship and explore investment opportunities.
The Capital Market Authority (CMA) team led by Mr. Kamau Njoroge, met the County Secretary Dr Kiambi Atheru who was representing H.E. Governor Bishop Kawira Mwangaza to discuss the three-day program focused on alternative investment opportunities, risks, and partnerships. The program aimed to provide insights and knowledge on connecting investments in businesses.
During the meeting, Dr. Kiambi Atheru expressed warm welcome and support for the idea of partnership with CMA. He emphasized the importance of collaboration and cooperation between the two entities in order to benefit Meru County as a whole. Dr. Kiambi also highlighted the significance of training county staff on investment strategies, showcasing H.E Governor Bishop Kawira Mwangaza's administration commitment to improving economic growth in the county. He also encouraged the Capital Markets Authority to consider paying visits to the rural areas to train residents on investment opportunities for economic growth.
Participants engaged in fruitful discussions on various topics, including access to capital, business expansion, and market strategies. Focus was also made on empowering boda-boda members from all wards in Meru county with investment opportunities, particularly in shares and bonds. The workshop aimed at educating them on the essentials to be considered before making investment decisions.
Notable attendees included Mr. Kenneth Ruteere, Managing Director Meru County Investment and Development Corporation (MCIDC), and Ms. Winnie Mukiri, Director Business Development. Their presence highlighted the collective effort towards boosting investment opportunities in Meru County.
